Barack Obama

Fri Jun 6, 2008, 9:35 AM
It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.

Yes we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.

Yes we can.

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.

Yes we can.

It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.

Yes we can to justice and equality.

Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.

Yes we can heal this nation.

Yes we can repair this world.

Yes we can.

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.

We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics...they will only grow louder and more dissonant ........... We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.

But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.

Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea --

Yes. We. Can.

I saw his video on Youtube, and honestly I couldn't stop rewinding it and crying. How amazing is it, to be alive in a time in America, a country built on the backs of black slaves, when a black man might be elected president? I'm black on my mother's side, and she told me how my stepdad would attend white schools during segregational times and be yelled at and insulted by the white community, that one hateful word spat at him everyday. I myself am multi-racial, which was considered biologically defective, a living sin. I'm grateful to live in a time when I can hold hands with a black boy, hug a Hispanic girl, talk to an Asian friend, and hold a white baby with no angry eyes to turn upon me. I've heard this is the most colorblind generation to exist, and that in itself is beautiful. How amazing is it, that kid's cartoons are anti-racist? Imagine what the world will be like in the hands of this young generation, with no racial discrimination, religious extremism, or superiority issues to blind them.

Surprisingly, I didn't fail my biology exam.Above minimum passing grade actually, FTW.

As for the other classes I'm not poop at, I got high marks, though not as high as I'd have liked. 5 points in each class were required to pass the semester, and I averaged about 12 points each.^^

As of today, I'm officially a high school sophomore. 1 year down, 3 to go...^^;

As for summer(two and a half months >< ), I plan to work on a few things art-wise that have been annoying me:

---Anatomy
-Poses
-Making it look natural
-Jawlines
-eyes
-bones
-muscle
----Perspective
-Dynamics
-Foreshorting
----Realism
----Colors
----Comics/manga
----Expressions/emotions

>< Big list. Practice makes perfect, but nobodies perfect.XD

Also, I'm gonna puke.

As I've mentioned before, I'm shutting down this account officially in August. I may nose around with it during the summer, but I probably won't be faving or commenting that much, or maintaning any real communication with the community. My two month and a half summer break begins in two days, and I'm moving to a new account, as of the moment, unnamed(screw Radiopulse).

I will be removing my art, journals, favorites, and watch list.:/

Honestly, I'm not getting a good vibe with this account. I want to start over and get those pageviews with my OWN work, not fanart or that other crap. I apologize to all of my watchers who put time into those comments.

Also, report cards come out in a few weeks, and mine doesn't look any deifferent from last time, so no Wacom tablet for me.X(

I probably won't be updating this week or next due to final exams, and then, during the summer break,I won't be uploading, because I don't own a scanner(though I suppose every once in a while I could bike down to the library and post there).

At the beginning of the next school year, I will be shutting down my NclearInferno account, and moving to a new account(It makes me shudder every time I look at my crappy old stuff). It will be called 'Radiopulse'.

I haven't forgotten about art trades.
